Hyperlnks to Network Locations Not Working

Hello,

I am using Acrobat XI to convert a Word 2013 document that contains a hyperlink to a network location. I've created the link in Acrobat...and after searching various sites, am using the following construct: file:///\\path

All works fine when the document is on my machine locally. The link does not appear to be clickable when the document is hosted on SharePoint. If users right-click on the link, some users get an option to open the network location, and all is fine. Other users just get a standard right-click menu with no relevant options.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any solutions?
