Acrobat Pro XI version 11.0.3 does not combine files anymore?

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI version 11.0.3 on a WIndows 8 computer.

  1. [Bug?] I launched Acrobat Pro via a short cut on my desktop. Then I clicked on the "Combine Files into PDF" button and the "Combine Files" dialog pops up. Next I click on the "Add Files ..." button on the upper left corner of the "Combine Files" dialog box. After a few seconds, I clicked on the title bar of the dialog box to see if the software hung, and the title on the dialog box changes to "Combine Files (Not Responding)". After a few more seconds the title reverts back to "Combine Files" and nothing happens. I clicked on the "Add Files ..." button again and the same thing happens.
  2. [Bug?] In Microsoft's File Explorer, I selected several JPG files and right-clicked on the selection. I selected the "Combine files in Acrobat ..." menu item of the popup menu. The "Combine Files" dialog pops up with the selected files in the dialog box. At the bottom, the dialog reports "Checking for security settings..." and nothing happens for a while. When I click on the title bar, the title changes to "Combine Files (Not Responding)". Why does it take so long to combine 9 files?

Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing the same problems? Thanks.

Regards,

John
