We've run into problems with staff attempting to combine multiple Word files over a network share, receiving an 'error during processing'. The problem is not consistent (sometimes it works) but occurs frequently.
This issue occurs on Adobe Acrobat Pro XI that is updated to latest standard (Checked updates).
Environment:
- Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise. (64-bit)
- No roaming profiles or folder redirection employed (Domain logon)
- MS Office 2010 Suite (32-bit)
- No congestion on Enterprise network environment or obvious latencies (browsing network shares and folders snappy)
- HP i5 PC with 4GB of RAM
- File path length acceptable
- Word 2010 has been 'personalised'
- Apart from this glitch, OS and applications run without issues
- Adobe Pro able to create PDF's without issue.
As a workaround, I have asked client to copy files to a temporary folder on Desktop and then combine files. Deleting copied files when process complete. Not really a satisfactory workaround though.
Apart from the workaround, is there anything else we can do?
