Hyperlink Problems

I am using Acrobat 9.

We have one client (I have no clue what version of Acrobat they use) who is unable to click on a hyperlink (to them, when they click on a link, it gives an error message and a dead link) and be directed to where the link should take them.  All hyperlinks in our documents go to tables/figures/appendices within the same document.

As per their requirements, our PDF is saved as Version 1.4.

We have been told that we will lose their business unless we can solve this problem, so I need any possible suggestions ASAP.

Thank you!

Washing Corrupt Files

I had a collection of files on a server that I needed to download. I could view them using the Acrobat XI pdf plug-in with no problem in Safari on the Mac. The files when downloaded could not be opened due to corruption. I could download them directly and still could not open them. How corrupt would they have been for the plug-in to allow viewing of all pages? To make a long story short, I was able to upload them from the plug-in to acrobat.com. The files not only could be viewed from within Acrobat.com with no problem, but when downloaded from acrobat.com they were now usable in Acrobat with no issues.

Sort of like washing a Word file by saving to rtf or a Frame to mif. It is worth a shot if anyone runs into a problem with a collection of files.

Opening a .pdf in a Portfolio causes pop up "For best experienc use Acrobat 9 or Reader 9 or later."

I created a portfolio. In it is a converted Word doc .pdf with links to two other .pdf's that are inside the same portfolio.  The other two .pdf's open normally when clicked on.  The one with the links gives me a pop up message when the icon is clicked that is supposed to open one of the other .pdf's.

"For best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later."  It shows as a cover sheet in the upper left hand corner.  What is causing this and how do I turn that off so it opens the linked .pdf's normally?

Interactive pdf page transitions

I have created an interactive pdf. Original file created in InDesignCS6. It has buttons, go to page, page transitions, links to websites. All work perfectly as full screen pdf. But on website I lose the page transitions (which are just simple left-to-right wipes)

I have also created matching document in Acrobat. It does the same thing - loses the page transitions.

Any help here appreciated.

I have seen a few interactive newsletters that do everything. No idea how they are produced. These companies only ask for a static pdf to work from, so presumably they don't need to start from InDesign. They must be enhancing the pdf with links etc.- but with what software??

cannot create .pdf from web pages X Pro

Hmmm. I missing a trick here.

Acrobat X Pro.

Windows 7 64x.

Create web pages from Chrome

So I log into my New York Review of Books account as a Subscriber.

I locate an article that is marked ' locked ', subscribers only  - I view it as one entire page.

The whole article is visible - it should be, I'm a subscriber.

I load the URL into 'Save As Web Page '  in Acrobat X Pro

I click on Save. It doesn't save it it truncates the article after two pages placing a Nag Box at the end suggesting I take out a subscription. ( but I have ).

When I attempt this on articles not ' Locked ' they save perfectly in Acrobat X Pro.

NYRB web support are not really clued up on this.

Why does this happen ...surely Acrobat x Pro can create the .pdf from the browser content and doesn't have to go back to the source in these circumstances?

If I go into Chrome and PRINT the same Locked web page to PDF I get a half formatted black and white replica of the article in its entireity ( no Nag Box).

I'm missing something here. Help please.

how to setup word docs, converted to PDF on local drive with links to a second file at a page

how to setup word docs, converted to PDF on local drive with links to a second file at a page

Need to setup a set of word documents, converted to PDF that has links from one file to a second file at a given page.

I would like to setup a set of pdf documents, on the hard disk of a PC or Mac, that can be open with acrobat pro running on the same computer and have the link jump to, and open in a new window, in acrobat pro, to a given page of a second document in the set.

Is there a way to setup a link in word and the conversion to pdf that will result in a link that is equivalent to the acrobat link type  you get when you add a link of the type Go to a page in another document?

Tools-Advanced Editing-Link tool, make a box

Check: Go to page view, Next (Create go to view dialog opens)

Open second document and go to page

Click “Create go to view dialog” to set up link

Result is a link, when view by link properties, with an action of

Go to a page in another document

File: C:\My Documents\second file.pdf

Page: 43

Zoom level: Custom

I got close but did not solve the problem:

I have a version that uses links to a website, using #page=43 at the end of the hyperlink.

That works but will only open to the page if is through the web browser, opening the acrobat reader plugin.

I need to open from a folder on the local harddisk (with relative links), in acrobat pro to the given page of the pdf, on a PC or a Mac.

I could bookmark each page “pagenumberxxx” and jump to the bookmark/page if that would get around some problem

Current Systems in use to create documents with links and view them:

Windows XP SP3

Word 2003 SP3

Acrobat 9 pro version 9.4.4

Or just to view them:

Mac OS 10 Lion version 10.7.4

Acrobat 9 pro version 9.5.1

(note I have limited understanding of Mac’s)

Print to PDF (two PCs, editable text from only one)

Thanks if anyone can explain the factors that might cause this, why my workstation prints documents to PDF with selectable text and my laptop doesn't (the PDFs it creates are seemingly just pictures of text). Both machines run Windows 7 Professional and have Acrobat Standard 9.5 as printers. Usually I print Word documents or web articles with Firefox. I've tried duplicating browser and Acrobat settings between  machines, but still a URL printed to PDF on my workstation is an editable document, while the same link printed on my Lenovo ThinkPad is not. Probably I'm overlooking something fundamental. Thanks for suggestions.

Is there anything that you can do to fix a pdf that was created with the wrong orientation?

Someone sent me 40-page pdf created from a document with landscape orientation that was output with portrait orientation. The pages are clipped off on the right and left. There is no way that I can see that you can change the orientation in Acrobat Pro and if it is converted into a Word document you can see most of the text, but there is still some missing, especially where there are tables. I don't have access to the original document. I was just curious if there was a way around this?

Create PDF from webpage font color turns white

While using Create PDF from a web page the text in the final PDF is colored white so I cannot see it.  Italicized text remains black and is find.  However, the font color of standard text is turned white.  I know the text is there because I can use the text editing tool to copy the text out into notepad.  This problem occurs with Adobe Acrobat X and XI.  However, when I use Adobe Acrobat VIII there is not problem.  Furthermore, with the website I am converting to PDF the problem only happens if I try to convert the entire site, which is about 1,100 pages.  If I stop the job half way, the font color remains fine.

Any ideas?

Can't Drag and Drop from pages bar in Acrobat XI Pro for Mac?

MAC OSX 10.7.5

Acrobat XI Pro

In adobe Acrobat XI for Mac, how do I drag pages from the Pages Thumbnail sidebar into finder and make a new PDF?

In windows I can simply select the pages, drag and drop them into Explorer and it creates a completely new PDF with the pages I dragged.  I've tried everything on my Mac and I can't get it to extract this way.

It's extremely slow and frustrating having to manually right click extract, select the pages, open it in a new adobe window, then have to save the file through the menu.

On windows I just select the page, drag to the folder, click , and rename.

What does the error message "Bad parameter - bad /Widths" mean?

In trying to add Bates numbers to a multi-page file, the numbering always proceeds up to the same page, then stops with the error message  "Bad parameter -- the font 'OPSUFont0' contains bad/Widths." What does that mean, and how do I correct it? The page itself will not accept a Bates number.

Hey Guys,

I have a 60 page document that needs printing, and there are 40 text only pages containing black and white and 20 pages with colour.

Hallo an Alle!

Ich verwende Acrobat X Pro auf meinem Mac.

Habe folgendes Problem:

Acrobat Pro XI V11.0.2 - Word 2010 to PDF conversion fails to generate header text

$

Hello,

Following the recent update to V11.0.2, the Acrobat PDF converter for Word 2010 fails to generate the output document correctly. It misses out the text box part of the Word header.

However, using Acrobat XI via the "Print to PDF printer" appears to generate the output file correctly.

System is Windows XP-SP3 with Office 2010 (and all current updates), plus Acrobat Pro V11.0.2

Example Word source and resulting PDF are available, if anyone can figure out how to use this web interface to post examples.

Empty PDF created by Acrobat XI Pro

Hi,

The more I am using Acrobat XI Pro for Mac, the more I find out some issues around that.

I am using emacs to write a C++ program.  Emacs support postscript print so I print the buffer to a ps file.

Preview can open the ps file  but the same file become empty when openning with Acrobat XI Pro (distriller).

Is it to do with the fonts but those fonts are used by Apple Font manager as well. I think I am using Monaco size 12.

Next question would be how can I make the Apple font used by Acrobat XI Pro

I tried to check the settings in Acrobat Distriller but except things like standard, high quality, etc I do not find anything to note for postscript file conversion.

Anybody come across this issue?

Thanks,

SS
